Four Things to do NOW if You Want to Own a Home This Time Next Year
At the start of the New Year, we always see “NEW YEAR NEW HOME” advertisements from nearly every real estate office in the Nation. Mine is a little different… how about some implementable steps to get YOU there one day? I am sure it is discouraging to see those headlines every year if you’re nowhere near owning a home yourself. Let’s change that!
Let’s Dive Deeper!
I know controlling your monthly payments sounds easier said than done. BUT… if you want to own a home it is time to put in the work. You got this! Cancel as many subscriptions as you possibly can. Do you really need Netflix AND Hulu? Disney Plus? Cable? Cancel, Cancel, Cancel. Reduce car payments, game subscriptions, lawn service, pool service (watch some Youtube videos and DIY). Ladies... time to paint your own nails. Cut those salon bills! It will all start to add up in a big way. Cut daily drive-thru and weekly dinner/drinks out. I am not talking about your $7 a week coffee treat. I am talking the $100+ a week on going out versus in. I am talking about cutting bills/spending until you’re saving hundreds a month.
Now it is time to start saving those payments It is true… buying a home with a little money is the best way to go. There is First Time Home Buyer options to assist with Down Payments. Outside of that a buyer is still responsible for inspection fees, surveys, appraisals, closing costs etc. Take every single cent from cutting back on your monthly bills/spending and start stashing it into a savings account. Do not just put cash under your bed or in a safe. The lenders are picky about cash, and they’ll want to see it tracked in your account. That’s another free tip for you!
Next, create that FREE Experian account. Let’s be real the Karma….you know the one I am talking about is NOT accurate. Time to go straight to the Bureau. Create your free Experian account so that you can learn what your REAL credit score is. This will also let us take a deep dive into what is on your report if we need to do a little clean up. Knowing your score is the first step to getting on track to create credit or grow unhealthy credit.
Last step and honestly the easiest out of all of them CONTACT ME. I am in this with you. Contact me, so that I can create you a custom plan for a path to homeownership.
